Most wanted list down to eight

A SUSPECTED rapist, whose name was on Cyprus’ nine ‘most wanted’ list has been found in the UK.

Paul Lockwood, 41, was wanted in connection with the alleged rape of a young girl in the 1980s.

According to reports from the UK, Lockwood was arrested in Somerset where he had been living and working for a year.

The former soldier appeared in court and was charged on three counts of raping a girl under 16 and one of indecent assault on a girl under 14 between 1984 and 1988.

He will go to trial on October 1 but was granted bail, the terms of which include reporting to a police station every day, and surrender of his passport.

The Cyprus most wanted list contains the names of three Cypriots – two Turkish Cypriots and one Greek Cypriot – and five other Britons. Reports suggest at least two, or possibly three of the Britons are in hiding in the north.
