Armed robbery at co-op
AN ARMED robbery took place yesterday morning at a co-op in Ypsonas, Limassol, as two thieves escaped with over €6,000. According to Limassol CID head Yiannis Georgiou, the thieves, who worse helmets, pulled up outside the co-op on a motorcycle. One of them then entered wielding a rifle and demanded money from the till. The employee filled the bag with €6300. Reports say that the thief was speaking in a Cypriot dialect. Later, a motorcycle was found on fire in an underpass along the Limassol-Paphos motorway, which police suspect could be the bike driven by the thieves. Further investigations revealed that the bike was reported stolen on April 17. Burnt clothes were also found in the underpass believed to belong to the thieves.
