Paphos looking for cultural slogan
A COMPETITION to find a slogan for Paphos’ candidacy to become European Capital of Culture 2017 has been launched.
Project manager Angelos Loizou said the people of Paphos and Cyprus ine general are being encouraged to come up with a memorable slogan which could be used to help promote the town’s candidacy.
“We will also offer a prize to the creator of the winning motto,” he said.
Paphos is one of three towns that have officially announced their intention to be considered for the prestigious title, along with Nicosia and Limassol. The Paphos working group has already held a number of brain storming meetings and this week held a meeting with members of organised bodies and specific individuals from the non Greek-speaking community of Paphos to hear feedback and ideas.
Coordinator of the working group, Themis Filipides, said “It’s important that we include all of the members of the community of Paphos and the wider district, as we have such a rich a diversity of people living here and we want to involve as many people as we can in our bid for the title and for any events which we will plan.”
