Put your old mobile phone to good use

HAVE YOU got an old mobile phone sitting in a drawer, or cluttering your desk? If yes, then here’s your chance to get rid of it in a ‘green’ way… while also raising money for charity!

Between 5pm and 7pm today at Nicosia’s Mall of Cyprus, the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends in cooperation with Budget M Centre - recyclers of electrical appliances – will organise a collection event where you can get rid of your old phone, so that it can be recycled into a whole host of other objects, such as cooking utensils, copper pipes, electric stoves, and more. You might not realise it, but 90 per cent of a mobile phone can be recycled.

Old and obsolete mobile phones can contaminate the environment, so this worthy event not only provides an ideal opportunity to get rid of them at no cost, but also to see them turned over to a good use.

As well as contributing positively to the environment, this recycling event will also help raise funds for the prevention of cancer, as all proceeds will be donated to the Cyprus Association of Cancer Patients and Friends. For the last 23 years, the Association has tirelessly organised awareness campaigns and continues to provide vital, free services for cancer patients and their families.

This is a great opportunity for anyone with an old and unwanted mobile phone to make a positive contribution to the environment while also helping an organisation that does great work helping people in need of support.

Radio Station Energy 107.6 will broadcast a live link from the Mall of Cyprus during this event, while a live music-dance show will also be held featuring special guest star Nektarios Sfyrakis. Universal Life is the major sponsor of the event.
