Fans on the rampage in Limassol
LIMASSOL POLICE were on full alert last night after football fans clashed in various parts of the coastal city following the end of the Cyprus Coca-Cola Cup Final won 1-0 by Nicosia’s Omonia over Limassol’s AEL, the newly crowned League champions. Soon after the match ended, clashes flared up across the city between sets of the two teams’ fans. According to a police spokesman, around 200 AEL and Omonia supporters started fighting each other at the Ayios Nicolaos roundabout a little before 11pm, while police tried to bring the situation under control.
